You have a choice, you have a voice. We help you find your voice, but as your doula we don’t become your voice. An advocate by definition is someone who speaks for you. This is a common word tossed around in correlation with the benefits of having a doula. Rather than doing this, we empower and educate you so that you will feel confident in your own ability to advocate for yourself and your family.

There are so many choices that you will be faced with during this beautiful journey of pregnancy and growing your family. Before getting overwhelmed, take a deep breath and know that you have someone here to support you through every decision that needs to be made. We won’t make decisions for you, but we will provide you with all the material and education that you need to help you feel empowered to make your own decisions.

The delivery room is often the place that people want their doula to become their voice… but even there we don’t take on that role. By reminding you of your wishes and desires we empower you and your partner to find your voice to become your own advocate.  In the moment your desires may change.  We will help you navigate all your options and continue supporting you. We will have spent ample time talking through your birth wishes, different scenarios that may arise, and ways that you can implement and communicate your desires with medical professionals. The unconditional support we provide cultivates a judgement free atmosphere so you’re able to truly focus on what you and your family want through this experience.

As your doula, we will continue to remind you that you have a choice. Sometimes things pertaining to birth are presented in a way that makes you feel that you don’t have a choice in the situation, but you do. We will equip you with tools to help you sift through possible options and alternatives to help you find what sits best with your family. Absolutely every single intervention that happens to you and your baby is a choice. Reminding you of this power can be the encouragement you need to speak up and be your own best advocate.
